Job Brief

This position provides face-to-face and telehealth counseling for individuals, groups, adults, and couples. Inner Balance Counseling therapists are responsible for maintaining their own caseload and completing all required documentation as governed by insurance and company policy.

As a mental health therapist, you are oftentimes the first point of contact for our clients.  This means you should always be professional, friendly, and empathetic to client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional appearance- and attitude in face-to-face interactions as well as on social media/internet.

  • Complete intake assessments that include documentation such as Mental Status Exams, Biopsychosocial, Locus, ASAM, SAFE-T Risk Assessment, PHQ-9, GAD-7, ORS, SRS, etc.

  • Effectively create and carry out treatment plans using evidence-based practices.

  • Communicate with referral sources as well as psychiatrists or primary care physicians every 30 days by completing the coordination of care form.

  • See a minimum of 25 clients each week, and schedule 30 clients a week.  

  • Complete all documentation within 24 hours of time of service or event.

  • Complete any tracking or assessments required by IBC.

  • Maintain client’s charts and keep complete and correct documentation.

  • Complete discharge summaries.

  • Develop rapport with clients in order to facilitate a healthy professional relationship.

  • Exercise sound clinical and professional judgment. Follow all rules and statutes issued by the AZBBHE, and comply with all ethical codes and standards related to your profession.

  • Attended supervision or other required meetings/trainings.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling or related field and licensed in the state of Arizona (LPC, LAC, LCSW, LMSW, LAMFT, etc.).

  • Must have excellent, professional written and oral communication skills

  • Knowledge and clinical experience with adults with mental health issues (trauma, anxiety, transitional issues, parenting, depression, personality disorders, LGBTQIA+ etc.)

  • Must have knowledge of current theoretical approaches to the delivery of counseling services.

  • Must have knowledge of strategies for examining, applying, and evaluating therapy concepts. Additional skills required include a thorough knowledge of the clinical aspects of the mental health field.

  • Must be willing to complete the EMDR Basic Training through an EMDRIA-approved trainer and use EMDR in clinical practice.

  • Must be willing to complete within the first 30 days a course on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

  • See a minimum of 25 clients each week, schedule 30 clients per week and provide client care with 32 hours of availability each week with one day having an appointment of 6pm.

  • This role requires a commitment of 32-40 hours a week to ensure all assigned tasks are completed on time.

Salary & Benefits Details

  • The following holidays are paid: New Year's Eve, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, The Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day at a base rate.

  • This position earns 40 hours of paid sick/personal time per calendar year.  These 40 hours do not carry over from year to year, and they reset on January 1st of every year.  

  • Vacation time: First year =  40 hours paid vacation,  2 years = 80 hours of paid vacation, after 5 years = 120 hours paid vacation, after 10 years = 160 hours paid vacation.  Vacation time does not carry over from year to year and resets on the anniversary date of the start of employment. Vacation time is paid at the base rate.

  • These are the Level 1  salaries:  Associate therapist: $40,000; Independent: $45,000; therapists are paid on a tiered pay structure.

  • FLSA non-exempt salary with a tiered pay structure W2 position that is paid biweekly.

  • Raises- you must receive an annual evaluation before a raise can be issued, which will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

  • Training Fund: $1,500

  • Basic EMDR Training through an approved training program.

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance are available on the first day of the new month, 30 days after employment.

  • ALL vacation requests must be submitted in writing and approved at least 3 weeks in advance.

  • All employees of Inner Balance Counseling are required to sign and agree to IBC Handbook.

Within our office space, clients and therapists are spaced at least six feet apart with sanitizing between each client as well as clear face masks when requested. Providers may also work remotely for part of their schedule (telehealth).

About our clinical director

Katy Kandaris, MA, LPC is an outpatient Licensed Professional Counselor certified in EMDR and an EMDRIA certified Consultant.

She has a private practice in Mesa, Arizona that provides comprehensive outpatient treatment for adults and adolescents with a variety of psychological needs.

She has over a decade of experience in the field, with specialty training in EMDR, dissociation, dual diagnosis, substance use and codependency/love addiction. Katy is eager to pass on the knowledge she has learned to a therapist-in-training and help shape their clinical expertise.
